Residential Foundation Underpinning
Underpinning is the process of installing deep foundation elements called piles.
Post Backfill
After the crew backfilled the holes at the northwestern corner of the home.
Backfill - Beginning
Starting to backfill after the foundation support pile had been installed.
Pile Installed
Piles are engineered foundation supports that are driven down past the unstable soils. They are locked into load bearing strata, where they can support the weight loads that are transferred to them.
We Dig It
After all the holes had been dug for the pile in the northwestern portion of the home.
Before Underpinning
Sometimes, we have to remove parts of the existing landscape to complete the foundation repair. In this case, there was a brick walkway. After the foundation support piers have been installed, the existing landscape can be put back as it was prior to the repair. This is not typically a service AZFS provides, but we would be happy to refer Homeowners to a company that can help, post repair!
During Installation
An outside look of the northwestern corner of the home. The holes are all dug and the crew has prepared for the installation of the foundation support piers / piles.
Mapping is out
This 3D topographical map shows where the foundation is out of level and shows where support and stabilization is needed.
Pile Installed - 2
Another view of an installed foundation support pier / pile. There were 12 piers / piles total installed around the home.
Concrete Backfill
A close view of one of holes after the crew repoured the necessary concrete to repair the existing concrete slab.
Excavation Process
An up-close view of a hole partially prepared to install the foundation support pier. The holes need to be deep enough for the piers to be driven deep in the ground past the unstable soil.
Post Backfill - 2
After the crew had backfilled the areas where foundation support piers / piles were installed.
