Desert Storm Elite Dance Studio
Challenge
The foot print of this new structure was too close to an existing retaining wall to allow for excavation of the footing to the required depth without compromising the wall.
Providing a foundation that would carry the load of the new 2 story block structure without compromising the adjacent retaining wall.
Solution
Excavate a shallow footing and install 88 pre-construction Helical Piles to depths of 10 ft. to 15 ft. The piles installed were 2 7/8” round shaft piles manufactured by Foundation Supportworks. Cut each pile 6” above the bottom of the excavation and attach a pile cap. This provided a deep foundation system that would support the load of he new structure.
The helical piles provided a foundation that allowed the structure to be constructed to the original footprint without compromising the existing retaining wall and keep the project on schedule.
