Side Stem Wall Crack: Sign of Stem Wall Rust
If you can see a crack from the outside that is a sign con oxidation and probably most of the rebar is already affected.
Bottom Stem Wall Crack: Sign of Stem Wall Rust
If there is a bottom crack as the one shown in the picture. That means that the concrete of the stem wall changed its PH going from an alkaline state to an acid state causing the rebar to deteriorate.
Middle Stem Wall Crack: Sign of Stem Wall Rust
Normally flat cracks right in the middle of the stem wall mean that most of the rebar was oxidized and produced a significant amount of rust causing the concrete to crack horizontally from the inside out.
Flaking Painting: Sign of Stem Wall Rust
Another factor to take into consideration in the early stages of stem wall failure is when the painting starts to flake; because the next step is for the concrete fragments to start falling off.
Missing Concrete Fragments: Sign of Stem Wall Rust
When concrete pieces already fell off the stem wall or begin to spall that means the rust coming from the inside deteriorated most of the stem wall. Including the concrete and the rebar as a whole.
Replacing/Cutting Out the Oxidized Rebar
In this photo, one of the Arizona Foundation Solutions heroes is analyzing and determining how affected the stem wall is. One of the alternatives when it comes to the rebar would be fixing or replacing the rebar depending on the level of deterioration it is.
Precautions of the Surroundings
In this picture, one of our many values is being depicted; because Arizona Foundation Solutions care about your household so we try to make it look as if there wasn't a problem especially if you have grass or gravel around the damaged area. In the photo, a large white plastic blanket was used to protect the surroundings and leave them unaffected.
Stem Wall Repair was Done
The Project was completed and just waiting on the team leader to analyze and make sure we meet our high expectations.
Final Stem Wall Repair Inspection
In this final step of the operation, one of our heroes is inspecting the job and making sure nothing is being left off and that the quality of the job is as expected.
