Helical piles emerged as a viable solution to buttress the house's foundation, alleviating the burden on the adjacent soil and wall. However, the rocky soil's formidable nature rendered helical tiebacks ineffective, failing to penetrate the slip plane adequately to restrain the wall.
The intricacies of reversing flexural stresses within the wall's design, originally intended to withstand tensile stresses predominantly on the interior face, posed further challenges for implementing tiebacks effectively.
