Concrete Repair Photo Album: Rusty Rebar in a Phoenix Stem Wall

The owners of this 1979 singly family, ranch style home reached out to us after noticing cracking and crumbling in areas of the concrete stem wall.   Cracking and crumbling concrete within a stem wall is typically because of rebar oxidization or rusting rebar.  As the rebar corrodes, the concrete stem wall will begin to fail from the inside out.  The concrete cracking may be vertical or horizontal. Initially, the concrete stem wall may have small cracks alongside bubbling or flaking paint.  These symptoms are followed by increasing cracks as well as concrete crumbling and finally, stem wall failure.
