Common Foundation Symptoms
One of the principal signs that your stem wall is failing is when you can see concrete cracks on it. The position of the concrete cracks tells you what is mainly failing. For example, if there are vertical cracks, it means there are galvanized tie-down straps, and if there are horizontals cracks, it means the rebar got oxidized because of rust production.
Stem Wall Failure Symptoms: Flaking Paint
Another clear but at the same time mistaken sign of a stem wall failure is flaking paint. Many people might think the paint is flaking because of the constant exposure to the sun and the heat, which they are not wrong those variables do have a huge impact. However, when there is rust production in the rebar due to too much exposure to moisture.
Anti-rust Mixture Material
This blue anti-rust liquid got engineered to protect any rebar and tie-down straps from rust. This material gets used to stop any fast-paced rust production on concrete. Rust production happens when concrete gets in contact with water and changes its PH, becoming more acid and making the rebar oxidized and eventually crack and deteriorate the concrete.
Penultimate NeveRust™ Step
After removing all the damaged and replacing the rebar with a brand new one, it is time to add new cement into the stem wall. After adding fresh cement, the stem wall needs to look as smooth as in this picture.
NeveRust™ Result
This is the final look of a just-finished stem wall. As you can see, the cement got dried, and the stem wall is ready to get some paint over. Thanks to Arizona Foundation Solutions, this family will no longer have rust problems anymore, at least not in the same stem wall.
